In the Handbook, Brandon provides valuable information about the different mount types for photographs in the nineteenth century. Brandon also gives insight on what details of lady's, men's and children's attire one ought to look out for when estimating a date. Brandon discusses other elements of antique photographs such as the items subjects sometimes held, composition of photographs, frames and cases used, photographers with royal warrants, and the different styles photographers used for their logos. All of these elements come together to form a comprehensive analysis for an antique photograph which will justify estimating a date for when the photograph was taken.
